The Friendship Store on Jianguomenwai has a fair selection of imported travel guides. Please do NOT overlook the local travel publications. Some are excellent and the costs are considerably less.
Wangfujing Book Store is a great source of books generally and they carry a good selection of travel and history books. They have maps of most destinations in China.
You can "google" away many hours looking up travel info on the net. The sites are too numerous to mention. Just type in your destination for starters.
